Brockway Entertainment just released its annual Canadian Rap Future Superstars compilation, featuring the best of upcoming underground Canadian hip-hop.
Canadian rap MC Troy Neilson, AKA “Brockway Biggs,” chose 25 of his favourite songs to put on the compilation.
Neilson is the founder of Brockway Entertainment, which is well known for its promotion of independent and underground Canadian hip-hop artists.
He included two of his own songs: “Heretics Heritage” featuring DJ STV, DJ Ducats and Skratch Bastid, and “Canada Dry” featuring Nicole Rushton.
Classified, a popular Canadian rapper who played a show at TRU in January, wrote two tracks on the album: “Saturday Night” by Halifax’s Spesh K, and “Ain’t Hard to Find” by Jordan Croucher featuring Mic Boyd.
Moka Only has two tracks on the album: “The Taste” and “BBQ (So Good)” in which he’s featured as a back-up rapper for Ottawa’s Boz Faramone. He also helped produce Young Sin’s “Listen.”
Besides Moka Only, Lady Precise and Young Sin from Vancouver, the rest of the artists on the album are mostly from Eastern Canada. There’s even one artist from Regina (Ira Lee) and one from Edmonton (Touch & Nato).
If you’re a hip-hop fan, or if you’d like to be introduced to some great underground Canadian hip-hop, give this album a try.
A mere 500 copies of the CD were made, but you can purchase it at www.brockwayent.com or www.brockwaybiggs.com.
