Stephanie Kwoll - Omega Contributor

Name: Paola Jo Age: 18 Hometown: Guatemala City, Guatemala Field of study: Science

Three things you need to know about Guatemala: 1. Guatemala is in Central America. 2. It has one of the best coffees in the world. 3. We like to play soccer and we still hope that some day we will get into the World Cup.

A must see in Guatemala is: Tikal in Peten. You can find a lot of old Mayan structures there.

The biggest difference between Canada and Guatemala is: The climate because we don’t get any snow and the climate is almost the same all year.

In Guatemala, never ever: Call an aboriginal person an Indio, it is discriminating. The correct word is Indigena.

A wrong stereotype about Guatemalans is: That we are lazy.

Guatemalans love: Lemons. We put it into almost everything, even beer.

Guatemalans hate: Politicians because most of them are corrupt.

What I like most about Guatemala is: The people. They are really warm and always greet each other with a kiss and a hug.

What I dislike most about Guatemalans is: That people are always late (late meaning half on hour or more.)

Here in Canada I miss most: Watching the sun every day.
